About Moonbeam

A Cattery Built on Integrity

The home where Moonbeam Ragdoll kittens are raised in Pittsburgh PA

My journey into Ragdolls didn't start as a full-time obsession, it started with a fascination of their unique and consistent genetic personality traits. Good breeding ensures that each and every kitten's nature is remarkably gentle, intelligent, people-focused, and seemingly intuitive, making them perfect companions.

That is what drew me in, but what has kept me doing this for almost two decades is something deeper: the responsibility to both customers and cats to preserve the breed as it was originally envisioned, robustly healthy, docile, devoted companions. What keeps me going in this, the hardest job I've ever had, is the joy of seeing our Ragdolls become a life-changing experience.

Over time, I became more than a breeder. I became a student of the breed, studying health, behavior, feline nutrition, and genetics. Helping others navigate the often confusing world of finding a truly healthy, well-bred Ragdoll and avoiding scammers is a joy and one small but important part of preserving the breed. Through my work in the community, especially with new owners, I've seen firsthand how important guidance and honesty are in this space. Ensuring that each of our customers' experience is the best it can be is of the utmost importance to us here at Moonbeam.

Our philosophy: kittens, cats, and customers come first.

Every decision is intentional and made based on what's right for the kitten or cat. Thoughtfully selected pairings with a focus on health and temperament, careful attention to early development and socialization, as well as a commitment to transparency, education, and lifelong support define what we do.

🧬

Thanks to diligent DNA testing, every Moonbeam kitten comes with a 5-year genetic health guarantee.

Our goal isn't just to place kittens, it's to match families with companions who will bring years of joy, comfort, and connection. Owning a Moonbeam Ragdoll or Cherubim is about making memories to last more than a lifetime. Your children will be telling stories to their grandchildren.

From Our Families

Testimonials

Not to toot our own horn too much, but here are a few words from some of our Moonbeam families. There has never been an unhappy one because we stand behind our kittens. We are grateful for each and every one.

My Angel has been amazing. I’m so thankful for her. The day you put her in my arms, and she looked at me, she started purring and fell asleep immediately, I knew she was my soul cat. I wouldn’t get a Ragdoll anywhere else. Thank you!

Margot has been amazing to work with. She’s incredibly kind, super informative about Ragdolls, and has continued to be such a helpful resource whenever I have cat-related questions. You can tell how much care she puts into raising her cats because they are truly incredible. Toast Malone is my absolute best buddy, so loving, well socialized, and honestly the cutest guy around. He even won a contest to be featured in a cat calendar! I can’t recommend Margot enough.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything families ask before bringing home a Moonbeam kitten.

How much do Ragdoll kittens cost?

Moonbeam kittens are $2,200 and include spay or neuter prior to going home. That price reflects health testing, quality pairings, a veterinary health certificate, age-appropriate vaccinations, TICA registration paperwork, and lifetime breeder support. No hidden fees, no separate neuter deposit.

Are Ragdolls good with kids and other pets?

Yes - Ragdolls are one of the most family-friendly cat breeds. They are known for their calm, docile temperament, tendency to go limp when held (hence the name), and gentle nature with children and other animals. Moonbeam kittens are raised underfoot from birth, which reinforces their confident, social disposition.

How long is the waitlist for a Ragdoll kitten?

Waitlist length varies depending on the time of year and what's trending demand-wise. The number of litters can range from one to several depending on the health and well-being of our queens. We encourage families to inquire early and get in on our early deposit program; we reach out to waitlisted families first when a new litter is announced.

What health testing do you do on your breeding cats?

All Moonbeam breeding cats are tested for HCM (hypertrophic cardiomyopathy), PKD1 (polycystic kidney disease), and FeLV/FIV. We work with a licensed veterinarian and share health documentation with every adopting family. Kittens leave with a full veterinary health certificate, age-appropriate vaccinations, and deworming.

Do your kittens come with TICA registration?

Yes. Moonbeam Ragdolls is a TICA-registered cattery and all kittens are eligible for TICA registration. Registration paperwork is included with your kitten. We breed to the TICA Ragdoll breed standard with a focus on health, temperament, and correct conformation.

What comes with a Moonbeam kitten?

Every Moonbeam kitten goes home with: a veterinary health certificate, age-appropriate vaccinations and deworming, TICA registration paperwork, a kitten care packet, a small bag of the food they've been eating, a few favorite toys or a blanket, and most importantly, a signed contract that covers our 5-year genetic health guarantee as well as lifetime breeder support. We are always available by phone or text for questions as your kitten grows. Instructions covering how to transition your kitten are provided in advance.

Do you ship kittens?

We do not ship kittens, and kitten handoffs do not take place at our home. We are happy, when possible, to deliver or meet families at a mutually agreed location for a nominal cost to cover expenses - roughly covering Pennsylvania, Ohio, New York, West Virginia, Maryland, and parts of Virginia, North Carolina, and New Jersey. Exact meetup logistics are arranged during the adoption process. Pet Nannies are sometimes available to fly in cabin with kittens.

What colors and patterns do Ragdoll kittens come in?

Ragdolls come in six colors (seal, blue, chocolate, lilac, red, and cream) and four patterns (colorpoint, mitted, bicolor, and lynx). At Moonbeam, our current breeding program produces seal, blue, chocolate, flame, and lynx point Cherubim Ragdoll and Ragdoll kittens in bicolor, lynx, tortie/torbie, and mitted patterns.
